Why has the WT not tried to shut down this board?
by hamsterbait inwe all know that beth hell monitors this site.. they have repeatedly had sites shut down for quoting large portions of their litterature.
not this one.. do you think this board enables them to keep a finger on the pulse of what is going on in ex and aposto land?

This site gives them valuable intelligence. Many times the nastiness here would send a JW without doubts back into the WT.

10 Reasons you should never have a religion
by Batman89 ina great article i stumbled across this morning http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2008/05/10-reasons-you-should-never-have-a-religion/.
while consciously pursuing your spiritual development is commendable, joining an established religion such as christianity, islam, or hinduism is one of the worst ways to go about it.
in this article ill share 10 reasons why you must eventually abandon the baggage of organized religion if you wish to pursue conscious living in earnest.. since christianity is currently the worlds most popular religion, ill slant this article towards christianitys ubiquitous failings.

Maoism had no belief in God - except Mao. We could discuss his morals. The same can be said for the Bolsheviks. I suggest the dilemma is more about power than religion or no religion.

If you don't believe in God, Jesus, and everything in the Bible, you are willfully ignorant.

"i absolutely 100% believe in god, jesus christ and everything recorded in the bible.. the reason why is because of the overwhelming amount of evidence.. there is so much evidence that it has taken me years to examine what has cemented my own convictions.".

What was YOUR First Worldly Experience?
by Yondaime inwhile i was in florida during the spring visiting my oldest sister.
i had the time of my life with my brother in law.. you see my sister married a non-believer and my parents viewed him as the scum of the earth, so i was terrified to ever talk to him.
turns out he's one of the coolest people i have ever met.

My mom let me celebrate birthdays and Christmas at school or early in the day. My father never knew. When I was four, my JW aunt and grandmother took me to Macy;s toy department. They told me it was NOT for Christmas but I knew better. I wanted to sit in Santa's lap and get a ton of good toys. Santa's lap never happened. I attended library school where we went on field trips into the community. We visited the local fire house. The firemen not only showed us the trucks but we could sit on them. They had one fireman pose as Santa. I knew he was a fireman but my younger brother believed. Oh, the Christmas memories. One Christmas I was in the hospital for a minor matter. I received powder with glitter and a puffy applicator. Give me the loot.

Ferguson Shooting (Is my thinking on this all wrong.......)
by out4good3 ini think everyone here can agree that walking down the street, even in the middle of the street, is not cause for having a clip emptied in your ass......... i can understand how the black community would be outraged by the injustice of seeing another black man dead in the street at the hands of the police under mysterious circumstances....... i hope that i'm not succumbing to the attempts to assinate the already well impuned character of the dead man...... however.
i can't help but think that this could all have been avoided by exercising the proper discretion with fore-knowledge of the disadvantages people of color have when they are dealing with law enforcement in the united states.
it is not as if this disadvantage has only since recently came to light.

Is taking a blood transfusion a "Disfellowshipping or Disassoication" offense?
by booker-t ini remember back in the day when i was a devout jw in the 90s elders would go to the hospital to try and see if a person took a blood transfusion.
i remember my cousin was having surgery after a severe car accident and if he did not take blood the doctor said he would have died.
the elder came to the hospital and badgered my cousin's wife until she told him my cousin did get some blood.

I thought from reading other threads that one's repentance is at issue. If one can put on a show of tears and remorse, will they still be disfellowsihiped? With HIPPA enacted, how do the elders even know that you had a transfusion? If any Witness reports you, the Witness should be summarily fired for violating serious federal and state laws. People, in general, want privacy for medical decisions.
How did they know about oral sex?

Newark was not always a shambles. We used to have department stores with special gifts from the Vatican, classical music, solid buildings. I never believed that a single police stop caused the big riots. All I know that Newark never rebuilt. People I know admitted looting. Black friends were pinned down for days as the police and National Guard rioted. I have no doubt. Newark is only beginning to climb out now. White people disappeared after the riot. The part of the city I could visit shrunk.
There is a trauma to young people seeing their school used to quarter soldiers.

How do you measure a Jehovahs Witness?
by Londo111 inim just thinking outloud and, of course, you are welcome to think aloud with me.. (1) there are the metrics used in the yearbook totals.
the average publisher count measures only those who reported time.
likely, most of those who attend the memorial are those inactive or somehow associated in some way, shape, or form.. (2) there is meeting attendance.

I used to take field trips to other religions. The East Village is crammed with orthodox churches on every corner. I walked into the Russian Orthdodox church after calling to see if they speak English for the sermon. One of the handouts was a list of minute items, such as individual tapers, and the amount donated. It was so different from a western church. Public shame must aid stewardship.

Quite a tone in your thread. It makes any valid point moot.
